Sangalaki Island is a natural island that is intentionally not inhabited by humans. This place was crowned as the main place of laying green turtle eggs in Southeast Asia region. Here, there are many holes laying for green turtles. From one turtle nest hole, it produced approximately one hundred turtle children. This turtle child must be rescued by conservation officers not to be eaten by predators such as lizards, seabirds, and marine animals that are commonly found around this area. In addition, humans are the greatest threat to the survival of these turtles. The turtles will be treated for several days before they will be released into the sea.

From the island of Sangalaki, the journey continues towards Derawan island. Traveling by speedboat takes about 20 minutes. From the island of Derawan, our adventure continues towards Talisayan village located in the village of Pidu-pidu, Berau District, East Kalimantan Province. This village began to be famous for the whale shark (Whale shark). The journey from Derawan Island to Tanjung Batu can be reached for thirty minutes by speedboat. From Tanjung Batu to Talisayan Village can be reached by road trip by car for eight hours. Travel overland takes a long time due to the road conditions are not so good.
The journey to the sea to see the whale shark is done by renting a boat that is prepared by the locals. The emergence of whale sharks in this place due to the place of fishing in the sea called the chart. Fisherman who was fishing in Bagan often provide food, namely small fish that are favored by whale sharks that are passing.
